Vegetable Lasagna

So I made this today! ^_^

My mom recently asked me to make some lasagna. I've made some in the past.
I thought I would make a healthier version this time around.
After some research i decided to try out this recipe.
It was easy and delicious! ^.^

P.S. I tweaked the recipe a little. I added cumin powder, decided to roast my own bell peppers, balanced the slightly sour tomato sauce by adding brown sugar, and added more veggies. =)

DIY Rhinestoned Shoes

A few weeks ago I came across a pin called “DIY Crystal Shoes”. If you want to check it out here is the link to the website. The blogger used Swarovski crystals and meticulously glued them on to a pair of satin wedges. The result was very beautiful and inspirational. As such, I decided to create a version of my own that is more affordable and less time consuming.

To try out my version here is what you'll need
  • Adhesive Rhinestones ( I got mine from amazon -1000 pieces, 4 mm)
  • Wedge Shoes ( patent material, definitely not suede or satin)

Directions

1. Begin by cleaning your shoes. Any dust or dirt will prevent the rhinestone from adhering.

2. The adhesive rhinestones that i purchased peel off row by row. Place a single row of rhinestone outlining the wedge.

3. Continue to apply the stripes of rhinestones as in the picture below until the space is filled. (It helps if you cut the long stripes in half) If there are any gaps betweens rhinestones, then cut a single rhinestone from the row and place into the gap.

4. Once complete. Press down firmly. And take it out for a spin! ^.^

P.S. The adhesive rhinestones I used were very good. They have yet to fall off. For me this was a temporary addition to my shoes. But of course if you want the rhinestones to permanently stay on, then I suggest purchasing some flat back rhinestones (from amazon.com) and using E6000 adhesive to glue on each piece on to the wedge.

Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween !

For the past few years all I've done on Halloween was study, study, and some more studying. Professors sure love to give exams around this time. Now that I've graduated, I have a little more extra time on my hands. I started today by making some Halloween treats for my sisters and nephew. This can be made in bulk and give out as party favors or to trick-or-treaters on halloween.

What You'll Need
An Assortment of Candies
Novelty Toys
Pumpkin Candy Containers
Clear Cellophane Party Favor Bags

Enjoy!

Chinese Scallion and Sesame Pancake!

This morning I was craving some chinese scallion pancakes. I live near 8 Avenue, the chinatown of brooklyn. Theres a little place called Great Taste Dumplings, they are known for their dumplings but i love them for their vegetable sesame pancakes. The pancake is filled with shredded carrots, chopped cilantro, and a dash of soy sauce. I could have easily went out and gotten some. But why buy, when you can make your own right?

I did some research and found a great recipe to make the pancake. Once i made the pancake, i just added some veggies and thats it! My family really enjoyed it.

Directions:

1. Make the Scallion & Sesame Pancake. Here's a great video that shows you how to make it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7tUPq5uRPE

2. Prepare your Filling. You can put whatever you choose. I shredded some carrots, chopped some cilantro and napa cabbage.

3. Cut the pancake through the middle and place your filling inside. I also added some soy sauce and sriracha sauce.

4. Done! Enjoy

Apple Picking ^_^

On saturday I went apple picking with my family. This was our the first time! We drove to Pennings Orchard (Warwick, NY).  It was beautiful, especially this time of the year. You don't really get to see autumn foliage until you get out of the city. Then you can fully appreciate all the splendors of fall.

I have to say it was the most fun i've had in a while and we came home with alot of apples!
Here are some photos i took with my novice photography skills . ^_^

Floral Wallpaper Decal

A few months ago while i was cleaning out my closet i discovered some really old wallpaper borders, they had to be at least 5 years old... Anyhow I saved the wallpapers, thinking i would reuse it some how. And so i did!

There was a beautiful floral print wallpaper border. Instead of using the wallpaper as is, I decided to cut out pieces and arrange them just above my mirror as if it was a decal. This is what i came up with.

What You'll Need:
Wallpaper
Scissor
Mod Podge
Paint Brush

Directions
1. Start by cutting out parts of the wallpaper that you would like to use. ( The wallpaper i used also had fruits but i only used the flowers)

2. Arrange the pieces you've cut out.

3. Once you've decided on a pattern, begin brushing mod podge on to the back of each piece and placing each one on to the wall. Once all the pieces are on the wall let it dry for 30 minutes.

4. Apply another coat of mod podge on each piece. Let it dry.

You're done! ^_^

Hello + DIY Embellished Sweater

I recently decided to start blogging. Mainly because i'm constantly doing little projects here and there. As soon as i finish them i sort of forget. That's why i decided to start this blog so that i can document what i've done. This blog is going to be diverse. I want to try some more diy projects, dabble into photography, record my progression in pottery, and of course include some recipes.

There's No Time To Lose! So Lets Begin! =)

About a week ago I made this embellished sweater inspired by the "diy sweater" pins i've seen on Pinterest. I already owned a simple sweater that i could try out something on, so I thought I would give it a shot. (p.s. i've never done this before >.<) This is what i came up with...and you know what I'm really happy with the result ^.^.

What you'll need:

A Simple Sweater
Rhinestones (various sizes & shapes)
Needle (make sure it fits through the holes on rhinestones)
Fabric Glue ( I used mod podge)
Thread (matching the sweater)
Scissors

Direction:
1. Begin by arranging the rhinestones on the sweater (I focused my embellishments around the collar). I suggest placing the biggest pieces first creating an outline. Then fill in the empty space with the smaller pieces. The goal is to have fun with it! If you don't like the pattern you've created, change it! And continue to rearrange until you've found the right pattern.

2. Once you've decided on a pattern, use fabric glue to secure the pieces. Wait 10-20 minutes for the glue to dry. I didn't have fabric glue instead i used mod podge (works on fabric right? so why not?).

3. Now hand sew your pieces on using your needle and thread. This way the rhinestones are sure to stay in place.

4. Your embellished sweater is now complete. Enjoy and wear it often =)
